Going away and not sure who you can trust to give your guinea pigs the love and care they're used to while you're at home? That's where we can help!
Qld Guinea Pig Refuge offers a boarding service where, unlike many refuges or boarding service providers, your guinea pigs are placed with a foster carer, which means that they will enjoy the family life they're used to. While boarding your guinea pigs, the carer will provide all food and bedding for their stay. Not to mention an endless supply of love, cuddles and care.
Where possible, we aim to place your guinea pigs with a boarding carer close to the suburb in which you live. Please note that we currently don't have any boarding locations in Brisbane South.
Please fill out both parts of the boarding form.
Cost per day
For a piggy needing their own cage
For a pair of piggies sharing a cage
Each additional guinea pig in a cage, to be added to pair cost
ie. 3 piggies sharing a cage = $12, 4 piggies sharing a cage = $16
Extra charges may apply for additional care e.g. pre-existing medical conditions requiring treatment and/or special dietary requirements. If your guinea pig requires medication, please ensure you provide the sufficient amount to cover the boarding period and let your boarding carer know all details i.e. dosage amounts and treating vet.
Payment terms are as arranged directly with the volunteer providing the boarding service.

Your guinea pigs’ health and well-being are our primary concern. If a medical problem is detected, all attempts will be made to contact you. An emergency contact number MUST be provided when boarding your guinea pigs. The emergency contact person MUST be an adult, capable of making decisions for you regarding your guinea pig’s health, able to be reached within Australia, and authorised to make medical and financial decisions for your pet on your behalf. You will assume all financial responsibilities for approved medical services provided during your pet's stay.
Should a life threatening (critical) medical condition occur during your guinea pigs' stay and attempts to reach either you or your emergency contact are unsuccessful, medical decisions regarding their care will be made by the person boarding your guinea pigs. You will be responsible for all medical charges associated with the management of this event. Your guinea pig may be taken to a QGPR endorsed vet at the discretion of the person boarding your pet, and not necessarily your preferred vet, if your vet is a considerable distance away. All veterinary expenses must be paid upon the collection of your guinea pigs.
QGPR will not be held responsible for the loss or death of, or for any illness contracted by, or any injury or accident to your guinea pig.
