We are currently closed to surrenders (excluding ex-QGPR pigs, strays and medical needs pigs)

If you need to surrender a medical needs or ex-QGPR pig, please complete the surrender form AND send us an email directly.

Surrendering to qld Guinea Pig Refuge

If you are thinking about surrendering your guinea pigs because you're going on holiday, think about boarding your piggies with us instead. If this is an option, please click here for our boarding information and boarding form.

By surrendering to Qld Guinea Pig Refuge, you are ensuring a positive future for your pets. They will receive any necessary medical attention if needed, and will be rehomed under a strict adoption process to a loving forever family.  Please note we do not charge a surrender fee, however donations in the form of housing, accessories or money with your surrendered furry friend are appreciated.

As we are a refuge, we cannot always guarantee that there will be room for non-urgent surrenders due to rescues and urgent (medical) cases taking priority.

The Refuge is set-up to care for males, females, pregnant females and all medical cases. If you need to surrender your guinea pigs due to them being sick or injured, please contact us as soon as possible and we will take them with no judgement passed. Once at the Refuge, they will fostered with a carer who is best equipped to care for them and eventually find them a forever home.

It is important to note QGPR is a no-euthanasia rescue group, meaning that a healthy guinea pig will not be euthanised due to the Refuge being above capacity.
